We take this opportunity to Honor Bob Layer and Celebrate his Eldership!
Bob Layer was initiated in Hawaii in November 2010. Since his Weekend, Bob has never missed an I group except when he is off-island and even when he’s been the only man there. While he owns his own mistakes, he never chastises men who miss an I group meeting.
Service is the biggest part of Bob’s life. He says it is what keeps him showing up.
As a young man living in Pennsylvania, Bob was greatly influenced by his experience in the Boy Scouts. He acknowledges and prides himself for still living and teaching the Boy Scout Law.
For the last five years Bob has been active in the Boys to Men Hawaii program. He says that the young men are his greatest teachers.
Bob actively staffs Hawaii weekends and when he’s traveling and away from Hawaii, he seeks to find and engage in MKP activities wherever and whenever he can.
Men know him as a role model, a man of service who shows up and exhibits gratitude and appreciation for life.
Bob also believes that Elders have the Magic. We are the magicians, the wizards.

His goal is to continue doing his work, constantly digging out his deepest shadows and the gold wrapped in them. Bob plans to stay active in MKP, eventually becoming the oldest active wizard.
